1st Day of Kindergarten

Kaiden started his 1st day of Kindergarten today at his new school!!! He was so excited about starting school that he even insisted on packing his lunch last night all by himself and picked out his clothes. Of course I had to make sure he was putting together a balanced meal! :) Zachary was excited for Kaiden too! He even wanted to wear his backpack with his cars in it so he could be just like Kaiden, it was super cute. Kaiden walked in like a pro and had no porblems. His classroom was calm and his teacher was very welcoming. I counted the girl/boy ratio in his class and it looks like the girls outnumber the boys which I am sure Kaiden will not mind at all. I am just waiting for him to come home and tell me about some girl that likes him. :)

I am looking forward to watching him grow!! This is going to be a great year!!

My new dance adventure

I am really excited to announce that I am starting a new dance program at a local cheer gym in Humble, Tx. It will be at Texas Xtreme Cheer. They currently do not offer dance classes at all and are looking to expand their gym by adding recreational dance and eventually making competitive dance teams. I will be running the dance program and teaching the classes. Since this is a brand new start I am in need of some dancers who are wanting to take dance classes. The classes will consist of a combination class with Hip Hop, Jazz, Pom, and dance technique. This is available for ages 5-18.

I have been dancing since I was 6 and continued on into High School and College. I took some time off to start my family.

I was not looking for this it just kind of fell into my lap. When I was doing the Upward cheerleading Camp a couple of weeks ago I was approached by the owner of Texas Xtreme Cheer. He told me that he wanted to start a dance program and he was looking for someone to run it. When he asked me if I was interested I thought he was joking at first but then I realized he was serious. I had to go home and really think about it and of course discuss it with Nick. I met with the owner last week and discussed details and I decided that this is what I have been secretly looking for. Last year I tried to get back into dance by going to a local dance studio to try and coach there but it was not the right time or the right place for me.

Starting a dance program from scratch is going to be hard but I have a lot of things in my favor. I have the facilities and the knowledge. All I need now is some dancers!!!! You can follow this link to get more information. www.tinyurl.com/txxtremedance

Kaiden SWIMMING

Whooo Hooo!!! Kaiden is finally swimming without his floaties!!!!! We are so proud of him. This weekend we are house sitting and dog sitting for my parents, we call it "Hotel Jones". We are enjoying our mini vacation and taking advantage of their pool. This morning we decided to work with Kaiden on swimming without his floaties, which we have been trying to do all summer but not much success. Kaiden was a little scared at first but once he realized that he could do it he became a little fish. He said that he liked swimming without his floaties because he could go under water more. We made him put his floaties on while Nick and I were grilling burgers and getting ready for dinner and he wanted to take them off only after a few minutes because he said it was boring. :) Enjoy the videos of our new little fish!

Kaiden's first trip to the ER

Kaiden had his first trip to the ER and I hope we dont have to do that for a very long time! He fell on the playground at the church while he was in childcare. He was climbing the shoe rack which is only a couple of feet off the ground and he fell and hit the side of his head right on the ground. They put ice on him and brought his to me and he was crying really hard and i knew he was in a lot of pain. The childcare workers did a good job of knowing to bring him to me and they know him well enough to know that he was not ok. I am doing cheer camp all this week so I carried him around with me for a couple of minutes and tried to go sit him down. He began to really complain about his head and saying it was hurting really bad. He was saying that there was a buzzing sound in his ear and he was having a hard time sitting up by himself. He was really groggy and kept wanting to lay down. When he would sit up he looked dazed and dizzy and he would not eat or drink anything. So Nick met me up at the church and we headed to the hospital. Thank goodness I had my friend Jeannie there who took Zachary home with her so that we could concentrate just on Kaiden. On the way to the hospital before we even made it out of the church parking lot Kaiden threw up and he was not even phased by it. When we got to the hospital I had a hard time keeping him awake, he wanted to fall asleep and had a really hard time keeping his eyes open. They did a CT scan and thankfully it came back normal. So they diagnosed him with a minor concussion and told us to keep watch of him for the next 24 hours to make sure he does not have any other symptoms. Before we left the hospital and after a popsicle he was starting to act like himself. He took a nap when we got home and seems to be doing much better now. Thank God that he did not have more serious injuries. I was praying for God to protect him and heal his body, and he answered my prayers!

He got this sweet bear while in the hospital and he insisted on going to bed with him. His name is Tiny Bear. :)

Firefighter Birthday Party!

Kaiden's birthday party was at Atascocita Volunteer Fire Station #3 where we had a blast celebrating Kaiden turning 5! Nick and some fellow firefighters got all dressed up and talked about their gear and everything they wear for a fire. The best part was watching them race to put their "bunker" gear on and who would be the fastest.

The Firefighters pulled the firetruck out of the station and turned on the water nozzle so that the kids could take turns spraying it to see how powerful it was. The kids did a obstacle course that included putting on a firefighter uniform, crawling through a tunnel, jumping through hula hoops, carrying a hose, and spraying water from a real fire hose to knock over the cone. There were a lot of kids so it made it a little difficult to get through this course quickly but the kids had fun doing it.

After melting outside from the HOT HUMID weather we cooled off inside with yummy cake! The 3D firetruck cake was a huge hit with the help of several people it turned out to be really cool. Aunt Rebecca baked the cake while Nana and Uncle Chris pieced it together and did all the details on it.

Since Nick is a volunteer firefighter he was able to get Kaiden, cousin Cameron and uncle Nick to go for a ride in the truck. They thought that was the coolest thing.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this party a success, especially the Atascocita Volunteer Firefighters! And thank you to all of Kaiden's friends who were able to come and celebrate with us. I know this will be a birthday party that Kaiden will never forget.

10 inches of HAIR!

Today I made the decision to finally donate my hair. I have been growing my hair out for almost a year and a half and I finally did it! I always wanted to do this when I was younger but could never grow it long enough and never seemed to have the patience to do it. After having kids my hair just took off and was growing like a weed. It was down to the middle of my back, the longest my hair has ever been. I was getting so attached to my hair that I was unsure if I was going to be able to do it, but I realized that it is only hair and there are children who do not have hair at all. I am thankful to God that he has given me my hair and I know it will grow back again. I am at peace because I know that I am giving it to help a child feel beautiful again. I was able to donate 10 inches of my hair to Locks of Love. I am still in shock with how much hair was cut but I can handle it. Nick says I look younger and Kaiden says I look beautiful with my hair short. :) I don't even think Zachary noticed. As long as the men in my life love it that is all that matters.

Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.

Happy 5th Birthday Kaiden!

5 years ago we welcomed our first son, Kaiden Sterling Davaul into this world on July 16, 2005. He was 5 lbs. 11 oz. and had a scream like a pterodactyl. The week before I had Kaiden I was sent to a High Risk OB doctor because the amniotic fluid had decreased rapidly which could result in death of the baby. I was induced 3 1/2 weeks early and delivered a perfectly healthy baby boy. Thank God for ultrasounds because without them this detail would have gone unnoticed. I had several ultrasounds throughout my pregnancy because they were concerned about the size of Kaiden since he was so small. If you look at Kaiden today he may be small but he is incredibly strong and has amazing coordination, . Since Kaiden came early, Nick was still over in Egypt for work and was unable to be there for the birth of Kaiden. Thankfully I was in the hospital with my parents by my side. I could not have done it without them since I was not able to have my husband with me.

Friday, July 16, 2010 Kaiden Sterling Davaul turned 5 years old!!!! Our baby is growing up so fast and is turning into a boy and is not a baby anymore. Kaiden is full of energy, has a loving and kind heart, artistic, smart, strong willed, very inquisitive about how things work, and can run super fast like a cheetah!

Kaiden is really into Transformers and loves Bumblebee. Transformers use to be Nick's favorite show when he was a kid and he kind of got him started on liking Bumblebee. So for his birthday he was smothered with everything Bumblebee! We surprised him by changing his sheets, blanket and PJ's decked out in Bumblebee of course in the middle of the night while he was sleeping. He woke up to his new bed and was super excited. He came running into our room and was talking so fast about all the Bumblebee stuff on his bed and was trying to figure out how it all happened. When I asked him he said that it was "magic." :)

Can you tell that he was HAPPY to wake up with his new bedding and PJ's. He even has on Bumblebee underwear!

Zachary really likes Bumblebee too and every time we see a yellow car on the road he has to yell it out, "My Bumbabee". It has gotten so bad that he sometimes only wants to wear a yellow shirt cause he thinks it is Bumblebee. The only problem is that we only have 1 yellow shirt that he will wear. LOL So I could not get Kaiden PJ's without getting Zachary matching ones. He wore that shirt ALL day!

For breakfast we had special Mickey Mouse blueberry pancakes and sang Happy Birthday to Kaiden. He ate ALL of it!!

Of course Zachary wanted a candle in his pancake too, so we sang Happy non birthday to Zachary to make him feel special too.
