Another year has come and gone in the Davaul house. This year a lot has happened and this letter is to help us share it with you. Last year we were excited to find out that we were expecting our third child (due July 2011) but in November 2009 we had a miscarriage and lost the baby at 8 weeks. We were devastated at first but we understood that God had a plan for us. In April, Bekah found out that she had a 10-inch (size of grapefruit) dermoid tumor on her left ovary and had it surgically removed in May. The doctor was able to remove the tumor without any damage to the ovary and said that she would recover easily. We are now thrilled to announce that we are expecting a baby BOY, Lincoln Edward Davaul, May 12, 2012 and he is very healthy…Praise God! Edward is a family name, it is Nick’s dads, uncle and grandfathers middle name.
Nick and Bekah have deepened their walk with the Lord in their marriage and their involvement in the church. We are the bible study leaders in the marriage ministry and have been teaching marriage classes for the past year and a half. Nick is finishing his second year as a volunteer firefighter and is in his final year of testing for his black belt in Kuk Sool Won. Nick started with a company called Dyna Drill last year; Schlumberger bought it out, which was his first job when we moved to Houston. In February, Nick and his dad, Donald when on a weeklong father-son cruise to the Western Caribbean. Finally, in January 2012 Nick will be getting his CHL (concealed handgun license). Bekah is in her fourth year of teaching at our church’s Child Development Center where she teaches the 3-year-old preschool class. This is also her third year of being the Upward Cheerleading Coordinator through our church. She is trying to get through this pregnancy while chasing after our two active boys.
Kaiden Sterling is 6 years old and in the 1st grade at a new awesome school, Humble Christian School making straight A’s and excelling in everything he puts his mind to. He enjoys running, drawing, reading, swimming, and his new passion, Kuk Sool Won where he is a yellow belt. Dad is teaching him everything he knows about this form of Korean martial arts. Kaiden and mom went to his very first church camp away from home at camp Cho-Yeh in Livingston. He lost his two bottom teeth this year and is patiently waiting to lose more teeth. Kaiden is very inquisitive and wants to know how everything works. His career choices are an Engineer, FireFighter, Policeman, and a Ninja, he is very ambitious.
Zachary David is 3 years old and is in preschool at Humble First Baptist Child Development Center and is learning more and more every day. He enjoys playing on the IPAD, being a daredevil, chocolate milk, and baseball. He is super active and has more energy than all of us combined; he is our “Zack-Zilla.” Zachary is also very kind and compassionate, loves our dog Maddie, and he is our little snuggle bug! He is finally big enough to drive the power wheels Ford F-150 and thinks that he is big enough to do everything. Zack-Zilla wants to be a Ninja when he grows up.
Our summer consisted of Nick’s sister (Sheena) who is a traveling occupational therapist and her husband (Paul) living with us during one of her jobs here in Houston. It was a blessing to have them here during Bekah’s recovery from her surgery. We traveled to Port Gibson, Mississippi to celebrate Nick’s grandmother’s (Willie Bea) 90th birthday and got to visit and finally meet the rest of the Davaul family. This Thanksgiving was the first time ever that we had all of Nick’s immediate family (children and spouses) together in one location. This year our focus has been “family time” and growing together with God.
